I am also keenly aware of America as our long-time friend and primary trading partner, and the importance of the United States of America to an economically sound Bermuda.
"The atmosphere in Washington is electric and anticipation is building towards the ceremony in front of the Capitol Building tomorrow. My wife and I are humbled by this experience and look forward to an enjoyable time."

Good afternoon and thank you for coming.
I am pleased to be joined this afternoon by well known local hotelier Mr. David Dodwell.
I am also pleased to announce that Mr. Dodwell has been appointed the Chairman of the Tourism Board and the Chairman Designate of the new Tourism Authority for Bermuda which we aspire to have established within the next 6 months.
Mr. Dodwell has been tasked with leading the formation of and creating the structure for the new Authority that will fulfill one of our election promises - to move Tourism out of the political realm.
Before discussing details of the Authority, I will say a few words about existing staff at the Bermuda Department of Tourism - or BDOT.
The priority of the Authority will be to maintain continuity and to ensure that political interference is removed so that we can achieve the best outcome for the revival of Bermuda's Tourism industry.
The success of the Authority is directly dependent on engaging and empowering the Bermuda Department of Tourism staff so they can perform to the best of their abilities in carrying out the mandate of the Authority.

Retailers currently participating include Amazon.com, Buy Buy Baby, Diapers.com and Toys R Us/Babies R Us. At the request of the CPSC, these retailers have agreed to voluntarily participate because the manufacturer is unable or unwilling to participate in the recall.
CPSC is warning parents and caregivers that these baby recliners contain defects in the design, warnings and instructions, which pose a substantial risk of injury and death to infants. This recall includes the Nap Nanny Generations One and Two, and the Chill model infant recliners.
The Hon. Shawn Crockwell J.P., M.P., Minister of Tourism Development and Transport today offered his sincere condolences to MP and former Minister Michael Weeks and his family following the death of his son Malik on Christmas night.
Minister Crockwell said: "On behalf of the Government and everyone in Bermuda, I offer my sincere condolences to Michael and Cindy and their family at this most difficult and distressing time. To lose a young son in such a tragic situation on Christmas day is unfathomable. Everyone in Bermuda must do their part to end the deaths on our roads that occur all to frequently. The statistics are frightening. We have had 10 road traffic deaths on our roads this year, and almost every one was a young male on a motorbike. And most of these deaths were preventable. We must all slow down and take personal responsibility for our actions on the roads. At this festive time of year we should heed the message from the Centre for Alcohol and Drug Abuse (CADA) to ABCD - Always Bus, Cab or Designated Driver. We simply cannot afford to have another death and grieving family."
